Birding in Chiang Dao :
Doi Chiang Dao : Baht 2,500.- / person |
Doi Ang Kang : Baht 2,500.- / person |
| The site support significant populations of two resident globally threatened species, Mrs Hume's Pheasant and Giant Nuthatch. In addition, the globally vulnerable Dark-rumped Swift has been recorded at the site but not regularly in significant number. Moreover, the gobally near-threatened Great Hornbill has also been recently recorded at the site. Finally, a form of stachyris spp. babbler was collected at the site in the 1930s, which some authorities consider to be a full species, Deignan's Babbler, endemic to Doi Chiang Dao. Other authorities, however, consider it to be indistingguishable from Rufous-fronted Babbler. | The mountains of Doi Ang Kang in particular support a number of montane forest species, both residents and winter visitors, that are typical of Sino-Himalayan Subtropical Forests and are known from a limited number of site in Thailand. These include Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Lesser Rufous-headed Parotbill, Red-tailed Laughingthrush and Whiskered Yuhina. |
